Making choice for happy life

With all people be different in the world and with different individual priorities it is still highly important for each and every of us to be happy in life. Numerous researches were done in order to find out what to do in life and how to live it happy...

Basically there is one common rule - start do things that make you happy and satisfied. It is very easy say, but on practice this can mean so many different things, and they all can have different consequences and often other than being happy. What I mean by that is - would you consider that person has freedom just because he/she killed somebody for no reason and got in jail??? or would you consider someone happy when she/he has absolutely no regard to the society around and would spend all the time in solitude....

I think, life, like everything else in life has its rules. Making every next choice how do we know that it would make us happy and would have consequences we want.
It is nearly impossible to predict beforehand all possible alternatives for one or other choice. There is an old story, telling:” My son broke his leg. Is it good or bad? Suddenly war started. Every male was taken to war, except him. Is it good or bad?” Unfortunately there is no way to live life one more time or to see what would happen if....

So, how to make right choices for happy life?
Write down on the list of paper; let’s say 5 things that you absolutely must have in your life
. For example, you would think your life is dull without friends, or you think - there is no living without hot bath every week, or maybe happiness of your children/parents is absolute priority for you. Put on paper 5 primary things that are highly important in life, something that makes you very happy when you do it or simply something you want to have.

Did you get all 5???? It is hard to think of them for the beginning, but as soon as you start, things will be clearer to you. Your true values will come up and it will be easier to make decisions, plan. Don’t forget to put those 5 things in priorities. Some things are more important for you than others, make sure you give it deserved acknowledgement.

As soon as you are ready and set, you can make decisions now. For example - should I take this job offer in Thailand? Well, let’s see what is in my list. For example - friends, family, travel to Europe, climbing, and hot tea with milk near fireplace. So let’s see now:
Friends - I like and value friends that I have here, and I am not sure if I would be able to find new one, as good as this ones.
Family - Thailand is far away, I would not be able to visit my parents so often
Travel to Europe –I really would like to visit as much of it this year but it is far from Thailand
Climbing - Thailand is one of the best places for climbing
Hot tea with milk near fireplace - it is like 0% chance happening in Thailand.

So it is 2 strong against, one is strong for, and 2 like 50% 50%. Family is more important for me then anything else...I better take 5 weeks off from work and go travel to Thailand rather then taking this job.

Example I gave is very easy. Of course real life is much harder, and it is much more complicated. Still in this way you will be more directed on happiness with higher chance of succeeding!

Find the "point" in life

Sometimes it is so easy to believe that you are zero. People all around seems to have common goal and purpose to say or even mention it to you - YOU ARE ZERO OR CLOSE TO IT... By those or other reasons they seem stronger, better, happier, prettier....

Well it is all possibly true - maybe you are zero, just because you don't have nice job, or car.... or maybe they are just like you and me or at least were like you and me at some point of their life and now they are what they are and you are what you are...

Well it is not that bad after all... Car, job, status - it is all can be gained with right effort at the right angle :) the only thing left to find out is - where is this angle where by applying some strength you can turn the world around.

Course of life

Often being redundant is like being lost. When person is faced with necessity of choice, weather she/he needs to continue current job and look for possibilities of employment or develop new possibilities within new industries, open new horizons.

Some people are lucky and they know exactly what to do with their life, but for most people, no matter how old they are it is still a big question that needs to be answered.

How the one is to know what is the best job for him/her? What is the best way of life? Industry? What i want in my life?

All those questions can be extremely difficult to answer. Maybe, because it is impossible to have experience in everything at once. There is only vague understanding what is behind big words as Director, Sales Manager, IT, Product analysis...
Maybe, it is because due to the resent development of media, society, people don't need to struggle for survivor anymore. There is no need to prove anything, be the best, or become somebody significant. Today's salary even of unemployed person is enough to have decent living (of course only if he/she doesn't go to pub often).

Maybe, it is because of fear. Fear to acknowledge the truth. The truth about your surroundings, your job, yourself, about what you personally like or dislike. Because as soon as you acknowledge it and take it on board, you would need to change something. Changes are not always pleasant....

For those or other reasons some people then continue living the way they are now, constantly wondering what would happen if...

And still some of them make a change to enjoy and live life at full.

We will be looking further on how to find out what to do in life...

Hey, here is a thought if you are 25 and still don’t know what to do with your life apparently there is not much you can do about it :) Not very encouraging isn’t it?

These days influence of media is so great that often people forget who they are and what they really want. It is hard even for me to remember what it was that I always wanted to do.... Maybe American dream, is just one more idea to control us? Everybody wants American dream – you should try to get it as well.

Remember Marten Eden? There was a story of an old guy who truly fulfilled American dream. Starting from very bottom of society he became rich and famous in his 60th. Yes, now he was able to enjoy all the pleasures of life – travel, big house, friends... Unfortunately, he was old and sick now so could not travel, he had no family to share his big house, and friends were there as long as he had money.

Don’t get me wrong, I do want to get rich! As the matter of fact I want to be rich and famous to the whole Ukraine. I want to do lots of big things (which? I don’t know yet...) Still, there are a lot of people who are happy the way they are. Being a doctor or mother it is also a job that pays off if you put your heart in it.

I guess it is all about enjoying yourself and things that you choose to do. I think making choices is harder than it looks like :). At the end of the day it is not about who you think you are or where do you live, or what colour your skin is or your religion – it is about things that you do or don’t do on your way.

So to start one more time from basics :)

What are jobs there that potentially available, what they requirements and what we can do here?

Fist industry that I wanted to cover or at least take a better look is BANKING. Here we go...
There are two major different bank types- COMMERCIAL and INVESTMENT. Most of the banks today is a mixture of both of them with dominant of one or another. What is the difference then?
Commercial bank is what we usually think about when talk about bank. Here you can get loan or open deposit account, pay your bills or exchange/transfer money.

Investment bank instead of interacting with people/business directly and lending them money it helps people/business to raise money from other firms through bonds, stocks, etc.
Work in investment bank divides on three main categories:
- Investment banking or everything that brings money (merge and acquisitions, underwriting, asset management, trading (stocks, bonds, etc), global transaction banking)
- Analyze team or everything that research/analyze/predict behaviour of the market– risk management, financial control, research, corporate strategy
- Back office or support – operations (providing support of all operations of investment bank), technology (IT development), and administrations.

For commercial bank it is two main divisions:
- Front office – it is where interaction with client and engagement of new ones happens
- Bank office – it is where operations of front office are supported and laterally coming to life!

Job hunt continues! Taking a job for just only an opportunity of having job is not really great idea and there are more things that need to be considered like – what makes you happy? What is important to you in your life? Doing something you like or doing something that pays good money? Spending major time in your life at work I want to make sure that I do what I like to do and it pays me good money :)

So I decided to go further... Had to change country, and necessity to face obstacles connected with being foreign, speciality that cannot be transferred that easy into any other culture, and work experience in small but prosper company in Ukraine – I have a lot of thinking to do. Like what I want to do, and what is even more interesting – what I can do in Ireland. I used to be sales person and I liked it (at least most parts of my job), now I am working in bank doing constantly repeating job (there is nothing good about it except free time after work and long holidays without any disturbing which I was lacking in my previous job).

When arrived I started to look for a job in recession time, in completely new country, with new language and culture. I manage to find it ionly after around 4-5 month of intense search. I described it in my blog – all how it was... From writing Cv up to opening a spousal work permit and etc.

After working in my new job at the bank for around 6 month now, I realise – money and lots of time for holidays is not a really fulfilment of my dreams... I want it to be interesting and challenging, well paid with lots of possibilities to improve, implement my ideas, travel, and just enjoying results of my work. Not really knowing what I want to do and what I CAN DO HERE; job search continues.... And I want to keep on talking about useful things which I find here and there. I hope at least some of us will end up with great result!
